How long have you been teaching?
I am beginning my 9th year of teaching.
What is your teacher mission statement?
My educational mission is to equip students with the knowledge and skills to be successful in our dynamic and ever changing world. Yes, students in my class will learn the fundamentals of biology and chemistry but they will also learn transferable skills, such as communication, problem solving, and determination. These skills will open doors for students no matter where they find themselves in their lives. I hope to encourage strengths and empower students to recognize areas where they can continue to grow. I believe everyone brings something unique and valuable to the table and my ultimate mission is to help students begin to see those qualities in themselves.
What are your goals as a teacher this year?
This year my goals are to have a grateful heart everyday and to help students recognize their potential.
What IB Trait do you feel you embody the most?
The IB Learning Profile quality I feel I most embody is reflective. In life, we are all learners. In my classroom I learn from the students and from my own experiences and mistakes. My goal is to always be a teacher that reflects on my instruction so that I can continue to improve and grow alongside my students.
