New District Office

  • Project Description:
The office and training facility located at 660 North Anderson Road has been home to the district’s administrative and support staff since September 1992. Working with Rock Hill-based , the district first made public the intent to sell the property on February 6, 2012 and soon after listed the property for sale. In the years since, several offers were made on the property but none equal the accepted offer made by . The 42,500 square feet of office space and 12 acres of land has been sold for $2.7 million. Revenue from the sale of the current office location will aid in financing the construction of a new office. Additional capital funding for the new office will come from the sale of other properties once-owned by the school district. Remaining financing of the new construction will come from existing debt service funds. These sources will not affect the recent bond referendum authority or funds and will not impact the general operating fund or the taxpayers. A new office will be designed with a smaller building footprint (approximately 30,000 square feet) and more effective layout compared to the current office. This streamlined approach is expected to save the taxpayers more than $130,000 annually in operating expenses, which will directly benefit our students and schools. The new office will be built on district-owned property at the intersection of Orange Street and Black Street in , the original Rock Hill.

    Current Project Estimate:
    $7.3 million

In the aerial photograph above, the new office will be built on the top half of the grass area closest to Black Street. The building shown on the right side of Orange Street, which currently is home to ParentSmart, will be demolished to make way for parking. The demolition was already planned as part of the district's capital plan. ParentSmart will be moving to The Children's School at Sylvia since the Montessori program is moving into a new campus. ParentSmart will be joined on the Sylvia Circle campus with and T3 Elementary Center.
