Rock Hill School District Strategic Plan, School Renewal Plans and Cognia Assessment

  • In the spring of 2019, Rock Hill School District completed a district assessment with the AdvancED program. Shortly after the completion of the evaluation, AdvancED transitioned to Cognia. Cognia describes itself as “…a global network of enthusiastic educators here to help you strengthen your schools. Our holistic approach to continuous improvement encompasses accreditation and certification, assessment, professional learning, and customized improvement services.” More information on Cognia can be found at . Through this process, our district has been accredited by Cognia for 5 years as well as affording accreditation to each of our schools in the process. The assessment, commendations, and recommendations document provided in this process are separate from the Strategic Plan and School Renewal Plans documentation that must be updated for the South Carolina Department of Education (SCDE) in the spring of each year. These two documents, Cognia assessment tool with commendations and recommendations and the SCDE’s District Strategic Plan and School Renewal Plans, are guiding documents that are used for continuous assessment and improvement for academics, instruction, and programs supporting these efforts.

This document is the fourth update to the original District Strategic Plan and School Renewal Plans initiated in the Spring of 2019 projecting results for the 2019-20 school year. In the spring of 2023, we will complete the fifth and final update to this Strategic Plan and School Renewal Plans with results of student achievement data in the spring of 2024 and State Climate Data collected in the spring of 2024. In the spring of 2025, the district may again decide to engage in the Cognia district assessment program in conjunction with a new State Strategic Planning model to receive feedback, commendations, and recommendations on our district, schools, and program success attainment.
