Seal of Biliteracy

  • The South Carolina Seal of Biliteracy is an award that recognizes students who have attained a functional level of proficiency in two languages (English and one other world language) by graduation. The Seal of Biliteracy also serves to certify the attainment of biliteracy for students, employers, and colleges and universities. It is a statement of accomplishment that helps to signal evidence of a student’s readiness for a career and college and for engagement as a global citizen.

The State Department of Education has provided an official certificate for each student that contains the Seal along with a letter that students can present when applying to universities and future employers. In addition, ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ has given students pins to represent their bilingualism and a bronze, silver, or gold medal. Students will have digital access to the award for years to come through the online platform Parchment.

ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ continues to be one of the leading districts for world language learning in the region and our state.
